Service Providers & Home Marketplace
Have questions? We've got answers.
Can I show only my recommended service providers?
At this time, homeowners can view all providers in the marketplace. Your recommended providers are displayed at the top of the list and clearly labeled.
At the organization level, there is an option to hide non-recommended providers.
This approach was intentional to balance homeowner choice with trust in your recommendations.
How many service providers should be recommended?
As a general best practice, we recommend 2–3 or more providers per category. This gives homeowners choice while maintaining trust and quality.
What if a service provider is missing from the marketplace?
You can request to add a new provider directly from the Service Providers section. Requests are manually reviewed and typically completed within 3–5 business days.
Are referrals tracked?
Yes. When a homeowner contacts a provider, sends a message, or requests service, the referral is tracked and visible in the Referrals section.
Can both organizations and individual sales associates recommend providers?
Yes. Both organizations and individual sales associates can recommend service providers. Recommendations are clearly labeled to show who made them.
If we add a service provider, can they be seen outside of our hubs?
Yes. The provider may be visible elsewhere in the marketplace, but they will not appear as "recommended" outside of your hubs.
Are we liable if a service provider does a poor job?
No. Neither you nor the platform are responsible for the services performed by third-party providers. Clear disclaimer language is included on service provider pages and in the Terms of Use.
If you receive negative feedback from a homeowner, you may want to remove that provider from your recommended list.
Does RESPA apply to home services?
No. RESPA does not apply to general home services.
It does apply to transaction-related services such as real estate brokerage, mortgage, title, and escrow.
Do homeowners have to use recommended providers?
No. Recommendations are optional. Homeowners are free to choose any provider in the marketplace.
Can homeowners contact service providers directly?
Yes. Homeowners can message or request service directly from within their hub.
Can a recommended provider be removed later?
Yes. A recommended provider can be unrecommended at any time. You can update or change your recommendations as needed.
Are ratings and reviews available for service providers?
Not yet. Ratings and reviews are not currently available but are on the product roadmap.
How can homeowners verify licenses or credentials?
Service provider listings include links to relevant state licensing agencies, along with hiring best practices and project guides with estimated costs.
Can we add service providers outside of the existing categories?
Currently, the marketplace supports 90+ home service categories, such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting, and landscaping.
Non-household services (for example, dentists, babysitters, or schools) are not supported at this time. New categories cannot be created today, as each provider is manually verified.
Is there revenue sharing with home service providers?
No. Revenue sharing between individual sales associates and service providers is not currently supported due to compliance, disclosure, and accounting considerations.
That said, offline referral arrangements between partners are common and outside the platform's scope.
What makes the Home Services Marketplace inside hubs different?
Directories of home service providers already exist. What's different here is context and trust.
▪︎ The marketplace is curated by the
homeowner's agent, lender, and advisors
▪︎ Recommended providers appear at
the top and are clearly labeled
▪︎ Referrals are sent on behalf of
the recommender, not as anonymous leads
This turns a generic directory into a trusted extension of the homeowner relationship.
Can homeowners see who recommended a service provider?
Yes. Recommended providers are clearly labeled, and homeowners can see whether the recommendation came from an individual advisor or the organization.
