Three Steps to Connect
Follow this guided process to establish a secure, bidirectional connection between your platforms.
Step 1: Start the Integration
Start the Integration
Begin the connection from your Homeowner.ai dashboard.
During
setup, you'll be directed to Follow Up Boss to generate
an
API key, which is required to authorize the connection.
Your API key securely grants Homeowner.ai access to your
contact data and enables CRM write-back functionality.
Log in to your Homeowner.ai Professional account.
From your dashboard, click Import Contacts.
Select Get Started.
Tip: You can also start this process
from
the
Contacts page.
Choose Follow Up Boss from the list of available integrations.
In the API Key window, click API Settings.
This opens Follow Up Boss where you'll log in and
generate
your API key.
Step 2: Generate the API Key in Follow Up Boss
Generate Your Follow Up Boss API Key
Your API key authorizes the secure connection between Follow Up Boss and Homeowner.ai.
Log in to your Follow Up Boss account.
Navigate to:
Admin → API
(or the API settings page if you're already signed in).
Click Create API Key
Give the API Key a name (Example: Homeowner.ai Integration)
Once the key is generated, copy it to your clipboard.
Important: Store your API key somewhere
secure.
You may not be able to view the full key again after
leaving
the page.
Step 3: Connect the Platforms
Complete the Connection
Return to Homeowner.ai to finish connecting your account.
⚠️ If you previously connected Follow Up Boss through API Nation or imported contacts via CSV, you'll need to establish the new in-platform connection to enable continuous syncing and write-back functionality.
Go back to the API Key window you opened in Step 1.
Paste your copied API key into the provided field.
Click Save.
Your initial sync will begin automatically.
Most databases sync within 3–5 minutes. Larger contact lists may take additional time to complete.
What Happens Next
After the connection is saved:
- Your contacts will begin syncing automatically.
- Most accounts complete their initial sync within 3–5 minutes.
- Larger databases may take longer to process.
- Homeowner engagement and activities will automatically write back to FUB.
- You can continue working in Homeowner.ai while your contacts sync in the background.

I previously connected through API Nation. Do I need to do anything?
Yes. You'll need to reconnect using the new in-platform Follow Up Boss integration to enable continuous synchronization and CRM write-back.
I imported contacts using a CSV. Will they sync automatically?
No. CSV imports are one-time imports only. To enable automatic syncing and write-back, connect your Follow Up Boss account using this integration.
My contacts haven't appeared yet. How long does the sync take?
Most accounts complete syncing within 3–5 minutes, but larger contact databases can take longer. If your contacts still haven't appeared after a reasonable amount of time, contact Support.
